Ryan Molloy from Elk Couty Twp in NJ:
I have a suggestion for the scoring rubrics. I think the rubrics you gave are a great end-goal for the final writing piece for each unit. If the rubric could be modifiable to build to the end goal that would be great. For example, having an N/A option for things that may not be expected for early writing pieces in the unit. If the N/A could take that scoring indicator out of the final piece score too that would be great. Especially in special education settings where work is modified.
Example: There are 8 scoring indicators for an 8/8 final score. However, a grade-level expectation is for the students to have 5 of the 8 in that piece. The teachers would put N/A in the indicators not looked for. Modifying the end score to 5/5 instead of 5/8.
