Add Miscues for Word Banks

From Erin Bartlett, teacher, at Federal Way SD:

My name is Erin and I am the K-3 Literacy Development teacher at Star Lake Elementary in Federal Way School District. We have been using IRLA and schoolpace for about 5 or 6 years now. There are so many things about schoolpace we love, but we have a request for a change to the online schoolpace data entering system that we think would benefit all teachers and schools using it. We would love a space beneath each word on phonics/ power word lists to be able to type what the student actually said or the "miscue," when they incorrectly read a word. (Similar to how you can type answers on the white context clues entry) This change would be simple, but allow us to more easily look at what students actually said and more accurately diagnose reading needs!

Is this something that is possible to add to schoolpace word list checks?

From Colleen Creager, admin, at Saratoga Springs City SD:

I was hoping that you could add a very small addition to the word checklists. Can you provide a space above each word so that the assessor is able to type in what they child said in place of that word. For example, if the child is reading a 1G PW check list and and he says "am" for "an", I'm able to type in the word "an" above the word "am". This helps me to analyze what types of miscues the child is making. I had a student say "look" for the word "see" and by writing what the miscue is, I'm able to see that he is not attending to print and he does not have this word orthographically mapped in his mind.
