A comment I hear often in the field is that we are doing a good job of teaching students to read, but the program lacks in supporting students in spelling/encoding. Upper elementary teachers are finding encoding gaps and aren't sure how to fill them. I see an opportunity for us to: (1) develop a word knowledge/spelling inventory aligned to the IRLA and (2) produce "Encoding practice packs," to support filling in encoding gaps for students.
