There are often grumblings in the field re: the length of the the Lit Lab unit. Grading-wise, it would be easier for teachers if the length of the units coincided with the quarterly organization of the academic year. As we move forward into thematically-aligning our first units, wondering if this is also a space for lengthening the unit so that each unit is now ~8weeks in length. Unit 1 could still focus on rituals and routines, stamina bldg, bldg classroom community/culture, etc. It often takes longer than anticipated anyway as teachers are familiarizing themselves with the nuances of ARC Core. We would also have an opportunity to deepen the work/focus in narrative writing which often feels too short in Unit 3 with a two-week focus in phase III.
